Bugs control

There are several species of bed bugs. all of which are parasites of warm-blooded animals. The common bed bug. whose preferred host is humans. is rarely encountered, resumably because of improvements in sanitation. Related species. such as the bat bug and bird bug, prefer to feed on bats, birds. and other wild hosts.

but will also feed on humans if the opportunity arises or the preferred host dies or leaves the roost.

Adult bed bugs are about 1/4-inch long and reddish-brown, with oval, flattened bodies. Bed bugs prefer to hide in cracks and crevices during the daytime and come out to feed on the host's blood at night, usually while the host is sleeping.

These bed bug eradication treatments may include:
  • Use of a pyrethroid flushing agent to get bed bugs out of their hiding places.
  • Treatment of mattress and bed springs depending on the mattress label.
  • Disassembly of the bed frame to treat the frame, slats, hollow legs and open springs.
  • Light pesticide spray treatment of bed tufts, seams, and buttons on the mattress and box spring.
  • Spray or dusting of cracks around baseboards, bedside furniture and window frames.
  • Use of silica gel dusts to treat infested wall voids and attics.
  • Follow-up bed bug eradication inspection is usually required.
Here are steps for you to take:
  • Vacuum the infested room, especially the mattress (Discard the vacuum bag when done).
  • After your bed bug eradication treatment wait until the bed is dry to recover it.
  • Use a mattress pad before remaking the bed.
  • Have blankets, pillows and sheets professionally cleaned
